NCAA Tourney report 1
Since I'm one of the few people lower in the Tourney Pick-Em standings than he is, Wood has assigned me NCAA Tourney roundup duty. Also because I don't have a job and can watch all of it. OK, games 1 and 2:— Davidson is obviously the story of the tourney so far, with Stephen Curry droppin' threes like Wood drops Phantoms t-shirts fired into the crowd. They next have a tough matchup with Wisconsin with their corn-fed inside guys, low scoring and shutdown defenders, but Davidson's more than one guy. Their point guard and center are playing really well. If their inside guys stay out of foul trouble, and Curry and crew hit enough threes, Davidson can advance.
— Neither Davidson nor Western Kentucky might make the Final Four, but their Sweet 16 presence is no fluke. Stars continuing to leave big programs after only one or two years means more opportunities for teams that gel over four years. Mix in guys who slip through the recruiting cracks like Curry, and you have top-20 teams from mid-majors, every year. Don't know if David Stern's new draft status proposals will affect things if approved, but as is the trend will continue. You just can't pick all the mid-major teams for upsets in round 1, like me. I forget that every year.
— North Carolina and Kansas have looked like the class of the field so far. Fellow 1 seeds Memphis and UCLA had close calls in game 2, with UCLA again benefiting from a lousy call. Louisville's quietly been dominant as well, and may be under everyone's radar at this point.
— Villanova barely got in the tourney but has played great, much better than Temple and St. Joe's. Tough, tough matchup with Kansas, but they do have good guard play and experience inside. Stay close, see what happens. Wood notes Jay Wright has a fake tan. Weak indeed.
— Duke lost. LOL.
— Scottie Reynolds is rocking old-school Air Jordans.
— Am I crazy to think every single lower seed can win Thursday and Friday (with Nova likely being the longest shot)?

So is there any light at the bottom of the toilet*? Will they make the playoffs? Here is their remaining 9 games:
